I had to install a new motherboard, Tekram PL640-4AE, which is a slot 1 atx motherboard. The old motherboard had an slocket adapter for a socket 370 Celeron 400 cpu. The slocket has 2 jumpers on it, jp1 and jp2. I have not been able to find much documentation on this slocket. It does not have any indentifying marks or anything. I have found a good website to identify it, http://www.chu.cam.ac.uk/~rga24/slocket/index.html, I think it is the Elitegroup brand. Does anyone know any info on the jumpers for this card ?
I just want to make sure that the settings are correct, both jumpers are on, just to make sure that the slocket wasn't set wrong and that wasn't the problem. After replacing the motherboard the pc boots and all seems to be well. If the jumpers on the slocket are incorrect wil it not even boot ?
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks

Welcome Newt. Man if it isn't broke don't fix it. If all is well that means someone set the jumpers correctly the first time around and things are in order. Drive on. Otherwise a guy would have to play eanie-meanie with the switches to get the CPU to function. And that means a No-Boot.

Now Ranchdog wouldn't you want your tech support/manufacturer/retailer to put this much concern into your system prior to selling it to you http://www.PCGuide.com/ubb/biggrin.gif
newtbfr I believe the nomenclature you used is twisted a bit...I found a P6L40-A4E here (http://www.tekram.com/jumpers.asp?Product=P6L40-A4E) pertaining to your query.
I also went to the Elite (http://www.ecs.com.tw/download/download.htm) site...not much help though http://www.PCGuide.com/ubb/frown.gif
It's a starting point http://www.PCGuide.com/ubb/smile.gif

Thanks to those who have answered. I Replaced the old motherboard because it would not boot up. I did every diagnostic I could think of. Idecided the motherboard was bad, therefore I replaced it with a new one. I replaced an abit with a Tekram. Just was hoping the previous settings on the slocket were the same for the Tekram. Bassvak, I did get the jumper settings off the Tekram web site, I beleive all is well with the board, my concern was just the slocket settings.
I do use google, it's about the only search engine I do use.
This pc works but just want to make sure. Do not know about any of you, but I do not like "comebacks".
Right know the computer has been going through a burn in for 13 hours with 0 errors. I just was hoping the 2 jumpers were set correctly on the slocket. This is only the 2nd slocket I have messed with.
Thanks for all those who have responded.

Brent -- 13 hrs. 0 hangs. You hit a home run. Some Slotkets have jumpers for clock speed multipliers/voltage switch settings and some don't. There has been half a dozen or so on the market. Runs in my mind even Abit had one available. If you find the FCC ID # a guy could eventually run it down with a search. Elitegroup could have had those made by a seperate contractor and put thier sticker on them. Can you run a program like CPUID and get a read out on that CPU? Then a guy would know if you are in the ballpark with CPU speed etc. Have an Awesome Day!
