Overclocking is not a kosher topic in these pahts. (That's a mispelt path for us ole' 'phahts'!) The case to mypc never met the case frame for a week after Igotit till I hadit about where it was gonnabe for awhile. They kinda clamped together for a few days butt... ...this is a case for

FTT, up here "pahts" is perfectly acceptable. ;) (that's how I pronounce it)
Tony, you didn't mention which processor you have or which motherboard you have, how much you have it overclocked or any other relevant info.
First thing I'd do is check the manual for the motherboard and find out what the orange light means...;)

And yes it certainly could be the power supply, but depending on how much you overclocked and your cooling, it could be burn out too. If you have an extra power supply handy to check with, you could rule that out. Either way, post back with more info about your system for more ideas.

ok i am still pretty new to this but here i go.i have a giga-byte GA-7VTXE mother board via kt 266a AGP with on board sound, an amd 1800 xp, 256mb of ddr. two western digital hdd, a really slow smart and friendly cd-rw, a lite-on dvd-rom, floppy drive (of course). i have a nvidia ge force ti 4800 se agp(gainward). a realtek ethernet card pci. i had a laitronics generic 300 w psu that came with the case. a volcano 5 cpu fan and a case fan. i overclocked the cpu using software that came with the mother board easy tune III, from 1.53mhz as nature intended it to be to 1.61 mhz. the video card i had just installed the day my computer quit working and overclocked it using the software that came with it also i can't remember how much though. that is all i know off hand:D

GeForce4 Ti cards require lots of power. You already have lots of power robbing components, so the next thing to do is get a new power supply.
I suggest at least the Antec TruePower 430watt, or more if you can swing it.

Hi Tony,
Overclocking your processor from 1.5 to 1.6ghz sounds pretty moderate. Have you tried going back to the original video card and seeing if it starts up then?
As a matter of fact, you might want to go back to the old video card and disconnect one of the HDDs and maybe the DVD drive just to take the burden off the PSU.
Of course, if the PSU died you'll have to find another to try.

hey steve i tried switching to the old vga and i disconnected everything from the power source but the mobo the same thing happens a super short whirrr of the fans a little buzz from the power source and then nothing. i tried looking up the orange light but i cannot find anything about it in my mobo manual.i am currently deployed so my chances of just running to the store to get another power source are very very slim. i have ordered a new one with some more kick to it though and alot of fail safes.

hmmm...at this point I'd be down to replacing parts too. I hope it is the PSU, it's the more inexpensive part...;)

i got a new PSU a blackline BE QUITE 420w. i attached the new PSU and it didn't work at first when i had both of my harddrives attached once i disconnected my older 13gb hd it started and told me about my cmos settings (after about three beeps) since i removed the battery trying to reset them. for about 20 minutes while i tried to find my boot disk i let it run then it shut off by itself and is doing the same thing it did before. a short whirr from the fans the mobo led and then nothing no hdd lights or leds no cdrom light no fdd lights. i can't figure it out. could the new video card i installed have damaged my mobo?
i am at wits end. thinking about scraping everything and starting fresh.
please help.
still new at this.
