I have a PIII -700 with windows 98. It has 128meg PC-100 RAM. I bought 1 stick of 256 RAM (PC-133)to put into this cumputer. I took the 128meg out and replaced it with this. It will only show up as 128meg. The same stick was tried in another computer and it showed up as 256meg. Could it be possible that this computer will not accept PC133 RAM? If so can this be changed to accept the PC133ram?. I have tried using all the Ram slots ,but no difference.
Please help. Thanks

Try this; go into msconfig-look at the bottom for a tab called " advanced " open it up and look for a check box that says" limit memory to..." make sure it is unchecked. http://www.PCGuide.com/ubb/wink.gif

Your mobo manual will say the maximum ram each slot can take, as their are limitaitons, you can upgrade your mobo by flashing your bios, but the mobo website will tell you if this is an upgrade, and what this will improve, make sure you sure you are totally happy about this process as i believe that if things go wrong during the process you can knacker your BIOS so read up put a post up about how to (again the details should be on your mobos website)

You might want to check your BIOS. If you have Award it has a frequency/voltage control to make the appropriate changes.
