View Full Version : System slowing down and poor performance

Hello everyone,

OK here is the story, machine was working fine, all of a sudden (today) whilst gaming, frequent holts and hangs etc... CPU temp up a little (from 34C to 40C)??? FAN working ok.????

Any suggestions, I havent overclocked or installed anything new...

The CPU temp is ok at 40 deg. C., assuming it's an accurate reading.
What's the system temp?
You may want to remove the computer's cover, and run an external fan just to make sure that overheating is not the cause.

Also, make sure all cards(especially the video card) and the memory are fully seated, and all connections are secure.

If the above is ok or does not fix things, then remove and reinsert the memory a few times, or try it in different slots.
If that does not work, then increase the memory's voltage a notch in BIOS.
If still no good, then try different memory.

Another possible cause is a failing power supply.

Forgot to mention that a defective video card, CPU, or MB can also cause your problem.

I've also had that kind of a problem with a software cause. Things running in the background that want RAM and the game wanting it even more. Have you checked for automatic programs in the background?
