Hi,
Where can I find a driver/drivers for PCI mass storage controller and a PCI system management bus. Seems the drivers for these two are not installed correctly. Also Creative SB16 Emulation. I'm told it is used for sound in dos games. I don't play dos games so how or can I disable or delete this.

Thanks

Who made the devices you are looking for the drivers for?

Is your sound card integrated with the MOBO or is it an actual Sound Blaster?

If it is a SoundBlaster, Creative has how to disable the SB16 emulation on its site...

Unless I'm missing something here the items you have listed are BIOS/CMOS set-up items. Do you have a manual for the MotherBoard? Try DEL at start-up screen/default settings/y for yes to save and exit. Re-boot. Regards to Alaska. http://www.PCGuide.com/ubb/wink.gif

This is the actual SoundBlaster card.
Yes I have the manual and installation cd for the mother board. I did'nt know where they came from. So much to learn so little memory. Thanks for the replies. Just tweaking the new machine, and adding to my knowledge.

Lori.
If you are installing the SB 5.1 sound card.
First thing to do is visit the SB web site and download the NEW device drivers.
The ones on the cd will cause VxM errors.

During the install of the drivers you should see an option to enable the SB16 emulation .
All this does is allow for legacy (Old DOS) compatibility using the XT/AT standard irq, dma, and address.
You may also want to check in the SB settings to allow IRQ sharing for this device.

The PCI device drivers for the mass storage device should be on the cd with your M/B.
Depending on the chipset you have these may have a second or separate install program.
For example the Promise Tech Raid connector on many of the new M/B.
Requires it's drives be installed from the promise folder on the cd.

If you aren't using the connector for the raid . Just disable it in device manager.
You won't need to install the drivers .

The PCI system management drivers should also be on the cd.
In the case of the Via chip set they are in the 4in1 driver update/install program.
Depending on your chipset will determine what program to run/install

Thanks Rick,
I got the PCI system management drivers off the cd, still looking for the mass storage drivers. I'm going to SB web site.

Ok so I'm still learning. I found the drivers for the mass storage. I disabled SB16 in the device manager, but I'll follow up on that later. My ATI All In Wonder has a TV Tuner issue, I found some solutions for that on the ATI site. And those SB drivers are long, and I keep getting disconnected, but I'll get them and let you know what happens. One thing at a time. Thank You for all the replies.:D

You might not have the problem I encountered with a new Motherboard, but I will mention it.

I installed VIA 4 in 1 drivers and the Promise Ultra 100 IDE Controller from the Motherboard CD. I had a lot of strange problems, including DOS compatibility mode and funny Drive letters.

I discovered (from PC Guide forum)that I had to go into the CMOS setup and disable the Hard Drive as the second Boot device. Weird?? I had to enable Promise Ultra 100 as the fourth boot device. The motherboard manual said nothing about this.
