Win98, ABIT KT7A, Duron 800, 128 mb RAM. After running for a short while, Explorer takes a long time to open directories, change file names, move from directory to directory, any file related activity is slow. I have seen similar problem on units at work, but it usually clears up after a short period. This case it never gets better. Is OK when first start, then begins to slow down. Just built this unit 4 months ago, this problem just started about a month ago
Any suggestions?

In explorer, go to Tools-->Internet options-->Click delete files in Temporary Internet files and in the pop up form select delete all offline and click ok.
Also clear history. Try doing this every few days, it should help.

Go to Muy Computer, right click, and select Properties, then select Performance...see if it says something about being in MS-DOS Compatability Mode...if so here (http://support.microsoft.com/support/kb/articles/Q130/1/79.asp) is some info for dealing with it.
