I installed an external hard drive on my AMD Athlon to run Avid Express DV 3.0 and after rebooting, can't get pass BIOS/POST. Says errors searching for Primary Master.
I have tried switching to AUTO for Primary/Secondary Master/Slave but it is not working.
Any ideas???
What happens if you disconnect the external drive?

Same thing...
I rebooted using a book disk (accidentlly put in a Win98 although my computer is a 2000 but still works) and it states:
"Windows 98 has detected that drive C does not contain a vaid FAT or FAT32 partition. There are several possible causes.
1. The drive may need to be partitioned. To create a partition on the drive, run FDISK from the Ms-DOS command.
2. You may be using third-party disk-partitioning software. If you are using this type of software, remove the Emergency Boot Disk and restart your computer. Then, follow the on-screen instructions to start your computer from a floppy disk.
3. Some viruses also cause your drive C to not register. You can use a virus scanning program to check your computer for viruses.
The diagnostic tools were successfully loaded to drive C."
When I do each of the following, this is what happens:
1. When I run FDISK or FDISK.exe, i get the message, "No fixed disks present."
2. WHen I reboot without the boot disk, it says boot failure and asks for the boot diskette.
3. When I run SCANDISK, it says there are no found problems on drive C. But it also scans the disk extraordinarily fast.
When I added my external hard drive, I partitioned it according to the "Create Partition Wizard."
So, I dont' understand what's happening but it's really putting pressure on a deadline for an advocacy film I need to complete.
Any ideas, thoughts, etc are definitely welcomed!...
Jumpers...what are the drives jumpered to be?
Cables...did you actually disconnect the orignal C and is it connected correctly?
What is the exact drive config, now?
