Hello. We just came back from the store to buy a CD to download digital camera pictures from our PC to and the salesperson asked if we required a positive or a negative. If anyone knows what this gent is talking about, please let us know. Any info will be most appreciated. Thank you.

If you were looking for a DVDRW, he was probably asking if you want +RW or -RW, the 2 main formats for DVD. If he wasn't, he was probably trying to confuse you or he was confused himself.
I have never heard of positive or negative CDRW drives. If you are looking for a CDRW, there are some really good deals around these days....:)

Thank you Budfred! How can we tell which kind of drive we have, i.e., DVD+RW or DVD-RW? Is it possible that we may have a DVD "play-only" and not have the capability to "write" onto a DVD? Does this exist? Thank you very much for your prompt response to our query. Would you be interested in a great recipe for Chicken Parmigiana?

If you got a DVD drive with your computer it probably is play only. Most are not burners yet since they are still quite a bit more expensive than CD burners. However, many computers come with CDRW drives these days, so that may be what you have. If you have material that came with your computer, it should tell you what you have. You can also look in Device Manager to see what is list for CD or DVD, it should tell you whether it is RW or not. To look, go to the My Computer icon (probably in the top left hand corner of your screen) and Right click. Select Properties and a window will open. Depending on what version of Windoze you have, it will look different, but there should be tab or button for Device Manager. Click on that and look at what it says about your CD or DVD drive. Post back what you find and we can tell you more. Also, say what Windoze you are using, so we can give clearer ideas.
