Okay, Is anyone familiar with Award Medallion Bios?
I am working with an AMD Athlon 850 windows 2000. when I get to start windows it stay there and do nothing.?!?!

So I want to reinstall windows. A mesg that I got when PF8 was that Windows2000 root>\system32\ntoskrnl.exec was correpted.

NOW when I go to BIOS to try to reboot from CD rom. I can't figure out how to do that. I have seen other bios where I can teel where to boot first. Now I just got this CD rom and I am not sure either if the system is reconicing the CD rom. If anyone can help me I will really appreciate the help.

Hello,

If your BIOS supports it, you should see a line item, or possibly more, that refers to the boot sequence. Highlight the entry and use the pgup or pgdn keys to toggle between the choices. Set CD-ROM as the first boot device. Of course, this will only work if you have a bootable CD-ROM disc.

If you don't, then you will need to set the boot sequence to boot from a floppy first. As for the CD-ROM being recognized, you need a boot disk that will load generic drivers for the CD-ROM. Then, you can reinstall the OS from the CD-ROM.

You can download a boot disk for your chosen operating sytem that provides CD-ROM support from: www.bootdisk.com. (http://www.bootdisk.com.)

Good luck. Post back if further questions.

Try resetting the BIOS to default values, either with the reset jumper or remove the CMOS battery and wait about thirty seconds (or more0 return them to the original position and reboot...

The sequence of three beeps sound to me like a POST error code. If this occurs before any video shows up on the monitor, I'd recommend checking the connector from the monitor to the video card, or even reseating the video card. If it continues, try reseating other likely culprits.
