Hi,
I just added a new hard drive to my machine. I updated the drivers for all my cards. I wonder: Do I need drivers installed for my motherboard too for best performance?

Thanks,
Mike

No you don't. If you want to get the best performance out ofyour drive I suggest making more than one partition and also make sure to defrag on a regular basis.

The key word in your post is too. Meaning also. Answer definitely. For example: If your Mboard has the VIA chipsets (Northbridge and Southbridge) then update with the latest VIA 4in1 driver ServicePack. Visit the Website for the Mfg. of your Mboard for driver downloads if you don't have the necessary driver CD that came with the board. Luck.

......Indecision may or may not be my problem......

Hi;
Agree Ranchdog. make sure that you get the drivers for your specific chipset (ie; Via. SIS, Intel etc..). Also, just for reference, depending on how old the machine is AND the size of your new drive, check out the bios updates to see if any issues are addressed regarding the size of the hard drive you put in the machine. Once you are running well (with the new mobo drivers installed), leave it alone, unless you have specific issues related to the size of the hard drive, recognition of the hard drive, or performance. Rule of thumb, if you get it running well, leave it alone!
