Hello!
I am trying to install a 30 GIG HD that used to have WIN 2k on it, but i'm having problems trying to get all the data off the disk so i can install WIN 98.
i cant re-format from the 98 setup floppy for some reason and i have tried 3 different floppies, i get the file not found error when i type in format c: at the A: prompt.

i used the disk utility that came with the HD and it re-formatted c: just fine but theres still WIN 2k info on the disk? how can i get rid of all the WIN 2k info?

thanks for any info in advance.

If that hard drive is formatted in NTFS then you need to use the NT disk(s) to undue it or do a "Low level" format which is a disk utility put out by nearly all hard drive manufacturers.

If your hard drive is an EIDE then low formatting is not recommended. why don't your FDISK it frist, remove all non-DOS partitons and start from there.

I have to go with Randy_tx on this one based upon Pete's reply in this (http://www.pcguide.com/ubb/Forum11/HTML/000521.html) topic concerning fdisk and NT (and NT-based systems).
