It might be a lot of things causing your computer to boot in Safe Mode. A lot of times you can go to the safe mode and then shut down your computer and when you resart the problem is already solved(registry is updated).

Hey,
This one's a toughie, without knowing exactly what happened.
Is there any way to use ME's System Restore option in Safe Mode? I am not familiar with how ME works, never used it.
I wonder if ME has the Scanreg capability, or if that was replaced by the infamous System Restore.?.
Well, guess I might as well sign off, 'cause I have more questions than ideas. You had best hang tight until a ME geek arrives. http://www.PCGuide.com/ubb/biggrin.gif
Cheers,

Hi;
Good question! I would run scandisk and see if it picks up any problems.
What ever happended to system file checker that was in Win 98? It saved me a few times!
Secondly, try running (in safe mode, if you have to) the Registry checker and see what it picks up. Get there by going to start/programs/accessories/system tools/system information. Then use the tools drop down and pick "Registry Checker." See if this shows anything. Then try to boot to normal mode.
When you boot to Windows, do you get an option menu that will let you boot back to normal mode? Choose normal and see what happens.
See if there are any hardware conflicts in start/control panel/system/device manager. Safe mode usually runs when the system detects a hardware conflict or system problem.

Just thought of something else. go to start/help. On the right hand side of the screen toward to bottom, is the safe mode troubleshooter. Click on it and follow the instructions. Once again, on the right hand side, scroll down and choose "next" then "I don't know how I got here." Follow the directions.
