I screwed up and deleted Outlook Express by using the "Add/Remove" program in the Control Panel. So needless to say all my stored e-mail addresses went with it. http://www.PCGuide.com/ubb/frown.gif Is there a Restore Option that I could use?
The Scanreg_/restoreis just for restoring the registry, what about a Dos command for restoring more?
I'm running Windows 98.

Mil-- You didn't happen to have your Address Book transfered over to an additional mail account such as Hotmail? Have you done a system files back-up of any kind? If OE was the only mail account you were using, things don't look good. Luck.

You might try looking for freeware or demo "undelete" programs. (The demo versions of these programs have a limit on the size file they can recover.)
Anyway, you'll need to "undelete" any file with a wab extension to recover your address book.

Good luck http://www.PCGuide.com/ubb/smile.gif

Mil,
Did you try the scanreg /restore? I just used it because I deleted some things I shouldn't have and it brought up the previous registry, including the deleted stuff...worth a try, unless you already have and the addresses weren't there.

Have you been saving all your emails on the server? If so, go and reinstall the Outlook and then create a new accout but don't use your real email acount, use a fony email address. From within outlook go to the tools, advanced, and choose leave a copy of emails on server. After you finished then go back and enter your real email account. If you had been saving all your emails on the server then by getting mail, you will receive all the emails which were saved on the server.

I would check to see if your .dbx files are still there. Either search for "dbx" in find files or its Windows/application data/identities...
