My power supply is still warm even though my computer is turned off?

In case it matters, the 4 channel adjustable fan speed knob on my ThermalTake Xaser II is connected to the power supply and four fans.

Is it warm for a few minutes or for hours later? Is it just slightly above the temp of the case or really much warmer? If it is warm much later, it sounds like something is wrong, but I don't know what having that switch would do. Are the fans working ok in the power supply?

This sounds like a job for Fruss Tray Ted, he is more of an expert in the electronics of power supplies. I would be concerned that you have this problem and probably turn it off until someone can explain it since it could be dangerous. I know ATX power supplies have some power going through them even when the computer is off, but this sounds like you could have a short or something that could overheat and burst into flame...

I'll give it some thought but it's a little bit modded-up to what I am more accustomed to. Heck I still have some AT cases and EDO RAM in a couple pc's in the house! :o (Although I have an ASUS mobo and Barton 2500 in the works. Some here, some enroute http://www.pcguide.com/ubb/icons/icon14.gif )

Through the limited reading so far on your case (D/L'ed the pdf just a few moments ago), it has a few options for PSU's. We'll need more info on your PSU of choice in particular and also your motherboard.

Has this condition been since day-one and when WAS day-one? Does your motherboard BIOS have a 'soft power down' or something similar? Do all the fans shut down when you power down including the 1 or 2 in the PSU? What's your OS?

Was the fan switch something you had to wire in?

If none of the above, could it be malware not allowing the pc to shut properly? Do you hear the harddrive spin down when it should?

Sorry, too many questions, blood tests and prodding of personal body parts. Plus the tongue depressor is too big, I'know... :p it'll take a little to get down to what is happening though but you'll be feeling better in a jiffy!
