Hi,
I wish to know how one can shut down or restart a computer remotely over a network.
I believe there's such a possibility, but I don't know how??
I am refering to a computer running win2000(professional/server)
Thanx

You need the resources kit, ( every NT-2000 user should have it http://www.PCGuide.com/ubb/wink.gif ), inside you'll find a commnd called Shutdown.exe, this will allow you to shutdown remote systems on a network.
Go here, ( MS resource kit for W2000 (http://www.microsoft.com/windows2000/techinfo/reskit/rktour/pro/Pro_tools.asp) ) it'll give you a complete list of the programs and functions any net administrator can't live without! http://www.PCGuide.com/ubb/tongue.gif

Thanks iisbob for your information,
I've visited the site, and downloaded utility shutdown.exe.
Now,How can I use it? What Command can I run for it to restart/shutdown a remote computer.
I've tried shutdown/[computer name], but I get the following error message :(Guess my Command is lame!!)
"The NTVDM CPU has encountered an illegal instruction. CS:ff02 IP:c943 OP :off eb 12 b0 01 Choose 'Close' to terminate the application."
Where's the problem?? I 'm confused!
Again, how do you specify which action(Shutdown or restart) on the command line.
Any assistance is highly welcome.
