Hey, I'm new to this site, but hopefully you can help. I just built my first box from scratch, and there's only one part that is bothering me.

On the front of the case is what appears to be a digital display. I'm not sure what this is for, and with no documentation, not sure how to hook it up either.

There are two wires coming out of it inside the case. One is a power cable, but the other one confuses me. The "connector" on the end looks like a very small soldering iron, and is covered with some type of sheathing. I've checked the motherboard, but I don't see anywhere this would connect. Maybe the board just doesn't support this thing, or maybe I'm missing something obvious.

Any ideas?

Sounds like a temperature monitor and CPU probe. May be similar to this: http://www.case-sensitive.co.uk/articles/tempprobes1.php

Looks very similar to what I'm looking at. I'm running a P4 chip. Would I just place this wire between the chip and the CPU fan?

As I understand it, that is exactly what you do, but do it carefully so you don't short anything out. I would look up instructions on the website of someone who makes these things so you know you got it right. BTW, you can use it to track temps of other components if you want, like the video card....

Okay, so just plug the power in, and put this "sensor" somewhere. Thanks for the help!
