Hello

I wonder can anyone give me some advice.

I am sick of this internet company who I brought all the components from to do a self build unit. After few months working, the video card has problem. I received a repair replacement but still problem. Return mother board, process + fan and video card. They said no fault found and I need to pay for their work before goods return to me (). Received return but still doesn't work. I checked the power supply and found no voltage going into mother board. I suspected the power supply faulty.
Can anyone confirm is my finding correct before I send the unit back to that company?
I did contact this internet company and their suggestion was buy another power supply unit and test it. Who doesn't know!!

Thanks

Welcome to http://www.pcguide.com/ubb/pcgubb.gif

I believe your choices are to do what they say or to test with a multimeter if you have one and know how to use it. I would also NOT buy it from that company if you are going to buy one. If you have a compatible one in the computer you are using to post this, you could certainly borrow that and test also.

You might want to post the name of the company here and let them know that you have done so in order to get their attention. You can also rate them at www.resellerratings.com and other rating sites so that others know that they are a dubious place to buy from. www.pcworld.com has a consumer advocacy feature that might also be able to help. If the power supply turns out to be the problem and they claim to have checked it and charged you for it, they are crooks and it would be good to let others know this.

Hello Bufred

Thanks very much of your suggestion.

I did measure the voltage pins from the power lead and there are no voltage at all in all the pins as suggested from the manual. I connected the power lead to mother board and measured it again. Again there are no voltage at all.
I don't want to go back to that company because they might say no fault find and charge me another £23.
I think I will buy another power supply and test it.

I have read the comment from resellerrating.com and the rating was poor for that company. Never will I go back again.

Thanks
