I just upgraded my motherboard to a BioStar U8788. I reinstalled everything and got it up and running except my modem. When the system booted up it didn't recognize my modem which worked fine onthe old motherbd. I have a US Robotics 56K Voice Winmodem.Should I put it in a different PCI slot and do a cold boot ? The drivers are already installed (not sure where), I made sure that they were installed but I can reinstall to make sure. Sure could use some help

WinModems can be tricky to install properly, how did you make sure the drivers were installed?
If you have the drivers handy to install, I would use Safe Mode to Remove the driver and then reinstall to see if that fixes it. Sometimes you have to disable COM2 or even COM1 in BIOS to get a WinModem to work.

Is your modem listed in Device manager?
Depending on your OS, if you click on modems within Control panel can you click the diagnostic tab, can you find one (of a possible several listed) that gives a thumbs up? You click on 'more info' and if you have the right one highlighted, it will 'communicate' with your modem and post a result.
I don't see how this could be a mobo swap problem but I'm always ready to accept it as such... reusing preinstalled HDD right?

Also, if it shows up in Device Manager there might be a yellow ! next to the listing.
Or, you can also highlight the modem in Device Manger and click Properties and see what it says in the Device Status box on the General Tab.

Perhaps you need to:
Reset Configuration Data (Force Update ESCD).
So that this PCI card will be allocated resources, have them listed in the ESCD, and have the hardware enabled by the BIOS.
