I use laptop hooked to 19" KDS monitor. At startup I have to go to display device, settings, advanced and click on CRT. I click on apply, but every time I start computer it goes back to LCD/CRT instead of just CRT. How do I get laptop monitor to not come up?

Welcome to http://www.pcguide.com/ubb/pcgubb.gif

I am not sure where you are saying that this choice comes up, could you clarify please... It would help if you could tell us which Windoze you are using and some specs on your laptop.

I use a Dell at work with a monitor and I simply turn it on and close the laptop....never have any trouble with having to select.

I have a compaq presario laptop. When I turn on machine (which is hooked to kds monitor), the image on my kds is is too big for the monitor. Therefore, I go into display devices and it is always selected to CRT+LCD. When I deselect that and select CRT only, then the image fits on the kds fine. The only problem I have, is that I MUST go through this whole routine every time I turn on my computer. Even though I have checked APPLY, it will not remain on CRT only. I am running Windows ME. Any help would be appreciated.

Since I don't have a similar problem with my laptop and I am on Win2K with it, I am not sure what to tell you specifically. What I would do though is look at your display properties on the Settings tab and click on Advanced. I have WinME on this computer and it doesn't mention 2 monitors, but it may on your's since you have 2. If it isn't there, I would check properties for the Display and/or Monitor in Device Manager and see what you can find that might make your preferred setting default.

On my Dell laptop there is a key that will allow a switch between CRT and laptop screen. If you have something like that on your keyboard, it might be a simpler way to do the reset if you can't find a way to make it default.
