Hello everyone: I lost what info I had on this subject. i see a CDRW on sale 129.95 and it is external with 4x4x6 USB! Can someone tell me if this holds 650MB (do all of them)? I want to download my Registry and other files! Also are the disk different sizes and will i be able to burn and play these in other PC? I'm running windows 98SE. please give me any feedback, Thanks TOM

The CD-R media can hold data from 650MB ~ 700MB usually which is 74min ~ 80min. This has nothing to do with the speed of your CDRW.
4x4x6 means 4x write, 4x rewrite and 6x read.

I am really new at this does 4xwrite mean you can write over it up to 4 times? I heard CDR (you can write only one time) But CDRW (can be more times) Are the disks themselves all the same size, in other words will a 4x4x? and a 8x8x? fit in any PC? TOM

... 4x4x8-4x4x16-4x8x32 etc. are only speed factors of the unit itself. The CD determines the Mb capacity of how much storage space is on it. Yes, CD's are physically the same size and are accepted in different units. Luck.

NO, 4x do not mean you can write over it 4 times. It means 4x150KB/sec =600KB/sec write speed.
CD-R is only one time writable, CD-RW is multiple times over writable.
All the CD-RW device itself are same size, they will fit in any computer. The only difference is that 8x is 2 times faster than 4x and will write faster, it will also cost you more money to buy.
