It's possible that something came loose when you removed the modem card.
Make sure that all cards and the memory are fully inserted.

Could you clear a couple of things up?
You say you replaced 'it' - do you mean you replaced the known good card into your machine, and it gave you intermittent problems, or:
You replaced the suspect card back in your colleague's machine, and it has since given intermittent problems?

This will make things a bit easier to help with!:)

I replaced my known good card back in my computer and started receiving the 2 post beeps, It gives me an error 10 when i go into device manager and troubleshoot. I made sure card was firmly seated, I have since unistalled the modem and this seems to have fixed the problem for now, but what did i do wrong?

Try inserting it in a different slot.
If no luck, then start in Safe mode, remove it(and any other modems listed) from Device Manager, restart the computer, and let Windows recognize it and reload its drivers.

possibly your graphics card or memory are loose, I've had a couple of machines that when you install the modem and push down as the board flexes the AGP card comes out just slightly.
