Hi;
Welcome to this site! Did you see the other posting by Paul Stoops about the A7V133 on this system troubleshooting forum? You may want to check out some of the information on that post before we go further.
But in any case, did you try to boot the system with just the essentials installed first, such as the keyboard, floppy, CPU, ram (you are using one ram chip for testing, which is good)and video card? See if you at least get a post.
Did you double check the proper seating of the video care an RAM? You may also want to try the other ram chip if the system does not boot with the basics. Are both the ram chips the same brand and type?
Check for possible shorts in the system, such as the motherboard touching the case sides. Also, did you mount the board with metal screws? If so, did you use the insulated washers? Plastic stand-offs only? Overtightening the screws can cause problems. I prefe t use only the plastic stand-offs when mounting boards. This tends to reduce the tendency for such problems later on when troubleshooting.
The power supply. Do you have a quality ps? These newer systems tend to need at least 300 watts.
Are any of these hardware components new, besides the motherboard?

Hello Will,
Was out of town for a couple of days and happened upon your post when I arrived back. I have an ASUS A7V133 also and have been the rounds with this board. As others have pointed out it is very fussy about your choice of RAM.
However, for right now we need to address your card placement. If you look on page 29 of your manual you will see a diagram regarding the PCI slots and their sharing with other devices. This is not just regarding possible IRQ sharing, but slot sharing. Your AGP shares with slot 1, so do not put anything into PCI 1. I initially made the mistake of placing my sound card in PCI 1 and never could make it through POST.
Big thing on this board is the ATA 100 and problems with it recognizing your HDD. If you receive a message that it could not read the disk, pull from the ATA and plug into the IDE Primary Master and format there. For some strange reason when in the ATA it does not recognize an unformatted HDD.
Check the diagram on page 29 and assess whether the device your are adding might have a problem slot sharing. For the ASUS this is of primary importance. You could have shut down problems or boot up problems directly linked to device placement on the board.
May all your dealings in life be win/win!
