Welcome to the forums!
unplug the printer. uninstall any drivers for it.
Now reboot, and reinstall the drivers - do NOT plug the printer back in yet.
after you have installed the drivers, the printer needs to be attached.
You didn't say whether it was on USB or LPT. If it is on USB, then you can simply plug the printer in and switch on - the autodetect/autosetup should then start running.
If you are running XP, this is done without any intervention on your part at all.
If it is a parallel printer, then shut the system down, connect the printer and switch it on, and reboot. the autodetect should then start running.
The main thing with peripherals of any sort, is to install the drivers FIRST - before the hardware gets attached.

You might also check out this page at Canon:
S330 support (http://www.canon.com.au/products/printers/colour_bj_printers/s330_support.aspx)
There's a troubleshooting wizard under Troubleshooting. That page also links to driver downloads. You might want to check out the EasyWebPrint thing before installing it off the disk. I just glanced through the site and it does say that EasyWebPrint requires IE 5.5 or 6, but my HP printer came with some software I didn't want, and certainly wasn't necessary for the printer to operate.
If it's a parallel port, it should go to Lpt 1..and I have never heard of one offer a choice before. You have had a printer on this puter before? You might also go into Safe mode and make sure the old printer (if there was one) driver is removed from Device Manager.
It would help with troubleshooting to know which OS you're using?

Is the printer set to be the default printer? if you go into control panel - printers and other hardware - printers and faxes and check to see what printer is selected, the default will have a tick beside it.
Select the canon printer, right click, and choose properties. Click on Ports, and find the printer, and make sure that the check button next to it is selected. (it should be USB xxxxx canon etc...)
make sure you select 'enable bidirectional printing' and then click 'apply'
Right click the printer icon, and select 'set as default printer'

Then it may be best to use the 'add new printer' wizard. - start it up, and when the choices are presented, choose the relevant printer; it should then locate the drivers and install them for you.
