Hey,
I have an Nvidia Riva TNT2 Model 64/Model 64 Pro video card. Updated drivers and directx 9.0a. 640mb of ram. PIII 1ghz Cpu.

Ok heres my problem. Every game I try to play on this computer the game works for 60-120 seconds then freezes. It never done this before. I tried everything I could think of to find out the problem. So, I was wondering if this is a sign to get a new video card or is it a software based problem. Has anyone have this or seen this problem before?

Thanx

It could be either hardware or software based. The first thing I would do is a major clean up. Open the case and blow out all the dust, especially on the video card. Make sure all your fans are running properly. Then I would check for things running background, especially spyware. Run a spyware scan and probably a deep virus/trojan scan. Do a defrag of your hard drive and shut down any background programs that you don't actually need. If the problem continues, post back with details.

Make sure that things like power management and screen savers are set to appropriate levels. some games don't seem to register with this kind of management, and screensavers etc can cut in, and hang the system.

I have almost the same specs as you do Jude3085. Only different is mine an Athlon 1ghz and 384mb of ram. I run all games fine but the newest games like C&C generals and Rise of Nations lag a lot:(. By the way what kind of games are you playing?:)
