What kind of camcorder do you have? What kind of outputs does it have (eg. USB, Firewire (or I-Link), SVideo, RCA Audio/Video)?
Mine comes with all of the above and I use the Firewire connection to do all of my transfers. You will need software that can read from the firewire to capture them though. I think XP comes with this.

The card you linked to is a nice piece of kit. From what I could see, it has an RCA (phono) input. It doesn't state if the CD includes any video editing software, so that may be a bit more expense.
Usually, non digital video cameras have a couple of these RCA sockets hidden away for video out and audio out. Otherwise, some form of splitter/convertor will be needed.
Not much help I'm afraid.

I tried to see if I could find anything on that particular model and have had no luck. I would guess that the best way to get your camcorder videos / pictures to your computer would be via your VCR and thru the use of either coax or rca cables.
I think (from what I can see) that the card you have linked above will do this via coax but I'm pretty sure you'll need some additional software that may not come with the card. If you want to be sure and you are doing this via the VCR to the computer method then I would recommend getting something like an ATI All-In-Wonder.

Thanks for the replies.
the ATI wonder looks a bit expensive for what I want, but meanwhile I have e-mailed dscomputers (who are selling the other) & they say it will do analogue ok but there is no s/w with it. they recomend MGI videowave ,which I have already got (came packaged with digi camera) & I have also got a great package of leads, one of which is a 5 pin (matching the camcorder) to phonos (which I have used to conect to tv & VCR)
so I figure that I should be ok with that ?

As long as the 'phonos' that you refer to will connect to the back of that card then it sounds like it will work and that you have everything you need to use the card.

If you can upload your videos to your tv, you will still need a way to upload to your pc. If you have a tv capture card or some facility like it on your video card, you may be able to circumvent the need for the tv as middleman and go directly to your pc.
