After a normal shutdown, my PC now does not boot.
The power light is on and the fan is running but there is no disk activity and therefore nothing on the screen. I get no beeps and have checked that all cards and wires appear to be connected.
Any ideas?

The most common reason I find for this is located by troubleshooting in this sequence:
1. Pull out the RAM and re-seat it....try booting
2. Pull out the video card and reseat....reboot
If neither does the trick, then try replacing those two items with known good devices [or good ram] .....if that doesnt do the trick, you can start looking to the motherboard as being suspect. I am assuming you dont even get a RAM count at startup? Correct?

I have exactly the same problem most mornings, but with a further refinement. If I leave the PC running as far as it gets, as described by the other poster, for a few minutes (<5) then switch off and restart, the PC starts up normally. This doesn't work if I switch off immediately after the first startup failure. http://www.PCGuide.com/ubb/frown.gif
