Hey guys,
I have an Epson 1280 photo printer that usually makes great photo prints. Just got back with my wife from a trip to see our first grandchild. When we went to print all the pics, everything was coming out with a blue tint. I have run all the tests and checked the ink levels and everything seems fine.
any suggestions?

Thanks Mark

Hi Mark
First thing to try is to put one of the files onto a floppy and use someone else's computer/printer to print out. This way you will determin if it is the printer or the actual photo file that is at fault.

If it prints OK the, if possible, install printer onto same computer and print same file again.

This way you can find out if it is file, printer or computer at fault.

Just a note,
Tried a different set of pics [different mem stick] and they printed fine. [thanks Ernie] now i am wondering what went wrong on the other stick?
Strange.

Blue often is indicative of a white balance problem....if all the pics on one memory stick are blue then the balance was probably off. This is especially true if your camera has automatic settings for things like flourescent lighting...if it some how got changed manually to incandesant and you took the pics under flourescents they would be blue/green.

Mark,
Re MJC's answer,

If you make a copy of each pick (for safety so that you do not damage the originals) and then using a half decent Photo Editing program you might be able to fix them so that they look better.

Thanks guys,
We also realized that the bad pics were all outside and my wife might have put the wrong filter on the lens. But why would the pics look alright when we were viewing them on the computer, and then turn blue on the print?
Mjc, I understood what you said but would that change from computer to print?

Check to see if your printer is using color matching or if your monitor is using a color profile. If the printer and the monitor are using color profiles, but not the same one you could end up with a "corrected" version of the pic on one and the "bad" on the other.

Good idea I'll check and get back later or tommorow.
Thanks again, Mark
