I recently shipped my used computer to a friend. When he tries to boot it up, it makes a buzzing noise and the screen is black. Any ideas? The computer worked fine before.

Sounds like something may have come loose while in transit...open up the case and start by reseating everything. Also make sure that cable to the monitor is securely connected to the video card.

Does this computer have on-board video or an actual video card, or both? And is the monitor cable connected to the proper location?

The buzzing noise is probably one of the fans not functioning properly. If there are no obvious problems from the move, make sure that there aren't have any wire rubbing on any fans and that fans work.

I never thought about the fans. I recently had one replaced, maybe it came loose in the move. Thanks for the advice.
