Hey there,
I just bought a brand new 1.3GHz computer from Dell. I've noticed when I play games such as Max Payne, Project Eden, and Red Faction about 5 minutes into the game the framerate steadily gets lower and lower. Sooner or later it nearly stops refreshing and I'm forced to quit. When I quit the game and restart it the same thing happens. It starts out with a fine framerate and then slows to a near stop. Does anyone have any idea how I could fix this problem?
PS- I do not use the CD for any of the games (they are on my hard drive)

What kind of heatsink do you have on the 1.33, you might need a bigger heatsink, try looking at your cpu temps through the bios should be around 50c idle and about 55 load.

I'm not sure what type of heatsink I have, though I pretty sure that is not the problem. My computer has 2 fans already, the room is very cool, it is not up against a wall, so I am pretty much ruling out that it's getting too hot. Thanks for the suggestion though...

Any other ideas?

I would check the video card's heatsink for proper seating. I just had to rig extra spacers on mine to achieve full contact...I cleaned the chip and re-applied thermal compound as well. It does sound heat-related or maybe driver-related.

If this is new definitely utilize the online support at Dell Support (http://support.dell.com/) I have used it quite often just to find answers in the FAQ etc. Have your service tag or express service code handy.

Also check to see what and how many programs are running in the background.

(same person that started topic, diff account)

I always quit every unecessary background program before playing games, so that's not it...

Have you tried connecting a chicken to your hard drive?
