Hi,
I recently tried to resolve a problem for a friend (who unfortunatly also happens to be my boss?!?)
compaq deskpro
Pentium 2
64 Mb RAM
Office 97
win95
(thats all I know @ the mo)
The e-mail in outlook express wasn't printing... nor did it show any signs that I had asked it to print, (No Viruses were found) so I (rightly or wrongly) re-installed win95. The system then crashed http://www.PCGuide.com/ubb/frown.gif
when I tried restarting. The message "cannot find file vmm32.vxd" appeared I borrowed the vmm32 folder from another win95 machine and copied it over through DOS which made no difference, the startup disk failed to work so I tried a win98 upgrade cd. when the system goes through scandisk it does not have enough memory to go past 4% of the file allocation tables.
I do have a recovery disk but I would like to know if there is a way in which I could recover some of the files. I have tried copying in DOS but it says that the file was not found... yet if I look at the directory I can see it?
I'm sorry for being so crap and I know I should stick to knitting but for the sake of my job at least... Help me PLEASE
