I know this is atopicc which has come up in a variety of forms, but I can't quite find the answer I need...
I am familiar with using msconfig to disable start up items, but how do I remove them entirely, or change the order in which they are run ??
I have 1 entry in particular that gets put there everytime I run a program, then I don't want it anymore, so I uncheck its box, but the next time I use it, it adds a new entry etc etc...
any help appreciated
If it keeps adding itself back in to the start up list then there is probably an option some where in the program (options, preferences, etc) that can turn that feature off...look for an item that refers to the systray, startup or whereever if is located at startup. There are also third party utilities that will manage what starts at startup...like StartUp"]www.miclone.com.au]StartUp ( [url="http://www.miclone.com.au) Manager[/URL] or try a search on Google (http://www.google.com) or a major download site.

With the exception of RealPlayer, I've had success removing programs from the sys tray / startup by using the System Configuration Utility. I expect some other program, like NetScrape 4.7, is responsible for the unwanted startup of RealPlayer G2.
Route: Start> Programs> Accessories> System Tools> System Information
then: Tools> System Configuration Utility
There may be another route within TweakUI that does about the same; though the system administrator has access denied on this machine and I'm unable to check it right now. Speaking of which, TweakUI is quite the add on.
