I have Canon BJC-800 inkjet printer which was wotking fine.
I haven't used it for a while as I now use a HP laserjet 1100.
however I keep the canon for the odd occasion when I need to do something in colour or in A3.
I seem to have a partial blockage on the Black & Blue jets, as shown by the nozzle test which is patchy. also when printing black or blue there are white streaks.
I have tried all the various cleaning cycles, to no avail.
I have tried metholated spirits on the 'rest' pads (ie. the pads onto which the jets come to rest.
I have tried water in an empty cartridge.
then I got a leak from the black cartridge when I removed it so I replaced bothe the blue & black cartridges.
I cannot see a way to remove the jet assembly, but I can stop it (by switching off) and get access to the 'rest' pads, or lift the jet assembly slightly.
I am now just running continious test prints hoping its going to clear.

Put 10 ml of this http://www.jrinkjet.co.uk/FlushInfo.htm in your empty ink cartridge to use it as a cleaning cartridge.
THEIR PRINTED INSTRUCTIONS SAY
For cartridges without print heads:
Print out at least 5 test pages.
This will clean out the print heads that are in the printer.
I've used the solvent to clean blocked heads and it works.
I use their black ink refill as seen here http://www.jrinkjet.co.uk/products.htm
and it works well.
The only [trivial] downside is that the [universal] ink is water soluble [not water resistant] and if the printed page gets wet , the ink runs.
I liked the 60 ml so I bought a 250 ml bottle of black.
It doesn't specify any use by date!
Notice the "Zap-It" chip reprogrammer.

Hi sylvander,
thanks for the link, I have used jr before, but the link in my favourites wouldn't work, & I couldn't find them, (or remember the name) so I am most grateful.
I have written to them for advice, but will definately try the flush as I am quite fond of this printer.
I do not re-fill any more as with this printer it is cheaper to buy the cartridges as the print head is not integral. £9.99 for 3 black (or colour) cartridges each containing 40 ml. inclusive price !! as against £9.99 for 60 ml bottle of ink.

WOW!
That IS an amazing price!
It would cost £12 for 120 ml at the bulk price I paid.
30 ml cartridges normally see for 8 or 9 times that rate.

they also do bulk ink I've only just looked at the bulk ink, but it seems pretty good, I think better than inky fingers.

That price does seem awfully good, you might want to read this article about counterfeit ink (http://www.pcworld.com/news/article/0,aid,111319,00.asp) just to be sure you are not getting scammed.

Hi Budfred,
the article concerns cartridges passed off as originals, and not compatable cartridges, and the article makes that clear.
it does show however that yet again we are expected to pay excessive prices for brand names, ok we expect to pay more but these are totally inflated, if they sold at a fair price then we wouldn't have to look elsewhere.
but thanks for the warning anyway.

I figured you were buying legit ones, but just wanted to be sure you knew about this since they talk about some of the fakes destroying printers.
If we did pay a fair price for the ink, we would also have to pay a more fair price for the printers. They are practically giving the printers away at this point so that they can sell more ink...

Which works out quite nicely for those of us who buy low priced cartridges or refill the originals!
I'm not complaining, you'll notice;)
