I installed a new windows 98 program on my Northgate Computer per your suggestion and all my problems went away. I now have my desktop icons and all is well. Looks like I need to apologize to Northgate about all the comments I made about the quality of the computer that they make! I guess that this little incident just goes to show me that after owning my computer for over a year and a half that I am still not informed to the highest degree of accuracy about these machines and am still in a rather unenlightened state on how to deal with computer difficulties. In short, I am rather dumb on how to deal with computer problems. Maybe that if I pay attention to all the suggestions on this computer forum, I will learn something about computers.
