I reformatted my Compaq 300mgh running windows 98. I got everything back except true colors. My only choices now are 2 color and 16 color. I have loaded the drivers for the monitor and it is working fine, I think. I think I need to load the correct video driver but when I go to display, settings, advanced, color management, I see what appear to be about 20 drivers, but I don't know which one to pick, and if I pick the wrong one I might lose everything. Help.

What type of video card do you have.
It certainly sounds like your video drivers are missing.
To fix your drivers you will need to have the CD for you video card or motherboard if the video is onboard.

Select control panel>sytem
go to hardware tab and select device manager.
Under display adapters select your video card and right-click and select properties. This will bring up a dialog box that should allow to select a 'driver' tab where you can choose to 'update driver'.
