View Full Version : freezes when loading cdrom driver winme

new pc-Intel p4 1.3ghz,850 motherboard w/duel ata/100 ide controller.
clean install-cdrom works in atapi mode,can copy sys files to hd, tried other cdrom, same thing.used dir comand cdrom does not list directories.
tried win98 bootdisk, disabled all devices in bios, tried setting HD and cdrom in master,slave and cs modes. modified floppy bdisk with other drivers. When installing winme pci check is ok but pc freezes when loading cdrom driver. any suggestions?

Hi and Welcome,

You could try getting a new bootdisk with CD-ROM support that's
specifically for WIN ME. It sounds like the boot disk you're trying to use does not have the appropriate generic drivers for your CD-ROM. Also, go into the BIOS again and try loading defaults, then try the link below:
