Windows cannot detect my newly installed DVD player, but BIOS does. BIOS detects the name but when i go to view the nformation about the DVD everything inside is set at 0 (capcity, head). Also when i start up windows i get a message saying "Cannot find VNETBIOS.VXD" and i dont know what that is. If anyone can help me out Id really appreciate it.

hey OZ, when you install a DVD -you're just installing another ATAPi drive as far as BIOS/Windows is concerned, as a matter of fact windows will " see " it as just another CD ROM device, you have to load the DVD software for it to function as a DVD player.

Don't pay attention to the 0 heads/cylinders ( can't have any if it's not a hard drive http://www.PCGuide.com/ubb/smile.gif ).

No im sorry man but maybe i didnt write that right. Windows is not even showing an icon for the drive. I have tried adding it under new harware and no luck. I got rid of the vdx file problem but i have to have the win98 disc to fix the prob but like i said i dont have a cd drive according to windows. The drive works fine DOS though. Thx

Is the BIOS set to autodetect the drive?

If it isn't then set it to auto...it could be that it is detecting it but the parameters aren't correct.

Is the cable properly connected? Try another cable if this one is connected properly...
