I am running windows ME on my machine.
The keyboard does not work but has its light being activated
every time i use the mouse.
what is the problem and how can i resolve it?

Open Device Manager, and make sure that the KB is enabled(no checkmark in the box for 'Disable in this hardware profile'), and that there are no problems listed.

If things are ok there, then connect it to another system.
If it does not work there, then replace it.

If it works on another system, then your MB's KB port may be bad.

Have check the device manager and the Keyboard seems okay.
However i have a category of "other" divices showing PCI Serial and
PCI ethernet with a problem.

I intended to use the bios to check the configuration but cannot
as the keyboard is not active.

Another problem, when the computer is off, the keyboard 3 lights remains on!

more ideas please!

What kind of keyboard is it?

USB or P/S2?

Wireless?

The Keyboard is P/S2 type.

You could try removing the reference to the keyboard and mouse from device manager and rebbot the computer and let it find the devices again.

This should, if there is any, get rid of any conflicts
