Is there a small device that you can carry with you too plug in to the USB port to store some info from the existing PC something similar to the zip drive. Also it will store more than the average floppy??
Thank you all>>>

Yep, USB flash memory device thingy. I recently bought one at Best Buy, $50 and $10 mail-in rebate (Budfred will be so proud of me! :D). Mine is a PNY 128MB version, very nice to have around. Most online vendors and brick-and-mortar stores have them for pretty cheap, far less than 50 cents per MB. They're very small and light-weight and work instantly on any computer with WinME or greater and on Macs with MacOS 8 or 9 or something like that (I don't keep up on Macs).

I definitely recommend one, preferably a USB 2.0 version (USB 1.1 is too slow!).

saphalline,

I am so proud of you!!!:D

That said, in addition to thunb drives, you can also find little pocket size media readers and use things like Compact Flash cards and Sony Memory Sticks to get the same capability with the added advantage of being able to increase the portable memory as the prices go down. Either are cool ways of moving data around. I am thinking about getting a thumb drive and using it to install a copy of Win98 and some utilities for problem solving....

Actually, if you are in the USA, I would just watch the sales. Each of the major chains are offering deals on these things each week. Lately Micro Center has had some of the best deals, but I am not sure what their current sales are since I haven't gotten their latest ads yet.

Until Saturday, BestBuy has a 256Mb Pocket Flash Drive USB2 for $60 after rebate. CompUSA has a combo of a 7-in-1 Multi-card Reader and USB Jumpdrive Trio with a 256Mb Secure Digital or Memory Stick for $80 after rebates. They also have a 256Mb USB 2 Flashdrive for $50 after rebate. OfficeMax has a Micro Advantage 64Mb Quick Drive for $10 after rebate. You can probably see them on their websites.... New ads come out on Sunday...
