I recently started building my super computer and am in process of booting up first time. My problem is...if I have my hard drive plugged in, it starts clicking about every two (2) seconds and I can't get into CMOS. If I unplug the hhd, I can get into CMOS. I have swapped out the hhd and have also swapped out the cables. The computer is: an Antec case with Antec TRUE330 ps. The motherboard is an EPoX nVIDIA nFORCE2 with AMD processor...hard drives are IBM/Hitachi 80gb modelIC35L090AVV207-0.Sure could use some help. I AM STUMPED.
Thanks for any help. Mr Bill

First thing I would check is to see if you have the drives jumpered properly. If they are the only drive on the cable, it is probably Master, Cable Select or no jumper that you would use. It should say on the back of the drive.

Second possibility that occurs to me is that you could have a bad board. Are you able to boot with a bootdisk in the floppy drive? Have you tried the secondary IDE port?

Third, have you set the BIOS to autodetect all drives?
