Hello there; "PC Guide Forum",

Is it possible to connect a the 25 pins end of a scsi scanner cable to the parralel port of a PC, and have the scanner working properlly?
I know that the cable will phisically connect, but will it digitally work?
Is there a peripheral you can buy to make this work?
The reasons behind this is; I need a PCI slot on my board. The SCSI card shares an ISA slot with a PCI slot openning to the back of the tower. I don't want to get rid of the scanner for a new cheap USB one. My parallel port is open, as my printer is on my router printer port.
I need the PCI slots to install a FireWire card. All my PCI are in use (Sound, LAN, FaxModem, and the ISA/PCI used by the SCSI.)My motherboard is a AOpen AX34-U.
Help is greatly appreciated, Thank you all.

I am pretty sure you are out of luck. SCSI and parallel are two very different interfaces. I could be wrong, so stay tuned for more responses.

Meanwhile, the newer scanners are usually not only USB/firwire, but they are also generally capable of better scans than scanners from more than a couple of years back. It may be worthwhile to reconsider getting a new one....

How many devices do you have hooked up to the SCSI card right now??

How many pins are on the connector??

You may just need to pick up a different cable with enough connectors...

Or, if your other devices are 50 pin there's probably an adapter to go 50 to 25...

Well, you could always go back to the onboard sound.......

No, there isn't any easy (or hard one) way to use a SCSI scanner on a parallel port.
