Hi. I'm having some mysterious problems with my power source. After swapping a couple hard drives around, I went to start my computer and nothing, no fans or anything turned on. After checking all connections were tight, I determined it was the power source. I bought a new one and intstalled it and the computer fired right up, and everything was working good. Then last night it all of a sudden turned off and I couldn't get it to turn back on. It was completely dead just like the first time. I suspected it was another blown power source, so today I was going to take it out and get another but decided I'd try the switch again and the thing turned on for me. ???? So I'm just wondering what the hell is up with my system? could it be a grounding issue? Thats all I can think of. Anyways, just wondering if anyone has any experience with this. Thanks. here are some specs if that helps.

Power supplies can be finicky...and if you are having a problem with the outlet that the computer is plugged into they can die quickly. Also if you are plugged into a powerstrip they can cause problems, especially if it has been through a few spikes already.

The best I can suggest is to have a licensed electrition check out the outlet and to try a new powerstrip, besides replacing the PSU again...

darbykidd,

You might check the power cord too. Some years ago, I had a computer exhibit quirky behavior and thought it to be a power supply. It turned out to be the contacts in the cord had become loose. I replaced it with an extra one and everything was back to normal.

Good luck,
ER
