Recently i just got my P4 1.7 Celeron MoBo n CPU. I transfered all my old components on my old MoBo to this new one including 2 SDRAM. Now i find the RAM not enough. My new MoBo still left with 2 DDR slots, but i have no knowleagde abt DDR Ram n was lost and i surf ard for the prices for the DDR, someone pls advise me.

Like: PC-2100(266Mhz),PC-2400(300MHz),PC-2700(333MHz),PC-3000(370MHz) n etc

Wat is the different between them?? wat 2100, wat 2400??? also the 266Mhz, 300MhZ behind??

My System
Bus: 100MHZ
Multiplxier: 17x

PC2100 is the rating of the ram. The 266mhz behind it means that it operates at 266fsb (by means of 133x2 since its DDR) Oh and of course the higher the number the faster the ram. IE: pc3200 is better, faster and more expensive than pc2100.

If you want to use DDR-ram, you would need to get rid of the sdr since they can't be use at the same time.
Well thats my $.02, hope it helps. ;)

Just to further clarify DDR ratings, the 2100/2700/3200 etc simply means the data transfer amount, ie: 2100 means 2.1 GB's per sec, 2700=2.7GB's persec, 3200=3.2 GB's persec, etc..

As Deagle pointed out above-the 266/333/400 is simply the double pumped speed of the fsb for the memory-266=133*2, 333=166*2, 400=200*2; on a P4 machine the memeory is normally quad pumped ( 4x ), so a fsb for a P3 of 100mhz would =400mhz quad pumped ( 4*100 ), with the newer P4's getting up to 800mhz ( 4*200).

Thanks, now i got better understanding on the DDR. Just 1 more question to end this thread. Even though my MoBo support both DDR & sdram, i can only use 1 type of ram?

You can check your manual, but I haven't heard of a board that will handle both at the same time. It allows you flexibility, but not that much flex...
