I am trying to get an old HP Pavlion 5030 with WIN95 working. I am getting tons of unreadable cluster errors when I run scandisk. Even though I am running it in DOS mode, it still takes about 15 hours to complete a scan. I used a program called "Tuff Test Lite" to test the hardware. Everything passed excep the "Fixed Disk" area which had hundreds of errors. They showed them as F010, but with no explanation.
Any suggestion of what I might try next? All the programs are working well, including games, and I have no errors on startup or shut down. A friend told me the scan errors mean the my hard drive is "chipping" away, but I thought that I should be getting some type of error if that was the case.

Sounds like the HD is bad.
You can install a new one, but I'm not sure if it's worth investing any $ in such an old system.
Also, a new HD may not be recognized by the old system's BIOS.
