My computer is working fine but the alarm keeps going and going and going ... It is driving me crazy. I took the box apart and blew out dust. It was quiet for about a minute and then started again. I have no clue what to do and I don't know what the alarm means.

Any assistance would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,
kattigrr

Welcome to pc guide kattigrr,
fist off some system specs. would help but the alarm bothers me. do you have a temperature gage on this computer.is it a solid beep i would suggest you shut it down now and use someone else's computer to communicate to here with. http://www.PCGuide.com/ubb/eek.gif

LOL - yes it is 'alarming'

Sorry couldn't resist http://www.PCGuide.com/ubb/smile.gif

It is an AMD k6-2 system, 350 MHZ, built at a small computer shop that is no longer around. The fan seems to be working and the computer is having no glitches as far as general use (typing, downloading, etc..)

I can see the speaker/alarm attached to the bottom of the tower but there are lots of wires running all over the place.

Thanks for the welcome and I appreciate the help

Did I hear that there are wires all over the place inside your computer? I hate when they do that. That's probably why the people who built your system are not around anymore. Wires and cables should be zip tied back and away from the motherboard and processor. Excessive wires & cables hanging over the board and processor will not give the computer the proper ventilation which can cause overheating and a lot of wear and tear on the system. Check your bios settings and see what the cpu alarm is set to. It may be too low. Anyway, that's my 2 cents. And remember, always put your trash cans out in the evening, cuz if you have to run out there in the morning when the trashman is coming, it may cause you to sweat too early in the day.
