i recently bought a HP computer system and decided to upgrade it, so i bought a dfi lanparty 875pro and a ati radeon 9800pro 256mb, and a thermaltake 3000 case. i installed all these new items correctly and when i booted up i went to setup and chose optimized bios. when i exited setup it detected ide and pci etc. it then booted the floppy drive ok then the two cdroms ok but then it froze when it came to the hd.
i have a 40gb hd, pen4 2.2ghz processor, 256mb ram and windows xp. i thought maybe HP had some program to only recognise certain hardware but i really wouldnt have a clue. I never got a windows xp cd with the system either so i dont know what to do. Any help would be greatly appreciated, Thanks

Welcome to http://www.pcguide.com/ubb/pcgubb.gif forums.

Operatings systems install drivers to function on whatever hardware is installed, so changing major components, especially the motherboard can cause the OS to stop functioning

I am presuming that your Operating System is windows XP?

If so it will require at the very least a repair installation of the OS which requires a valid copy of the OS CD, before it will work again.
