I have just installed a MSI FX5200-TD 128 AGP Graphics card, it doesnt show up in p+p and the install disc says it cant find the hardware. The current card is an onboard pci S3 ProSavage DDR 32mb. I have changed the settings in Bios from pci to agp, and uninstalled the onboard card, but the pci card is the one that gets recognised in p+p on startup.
System: AMD Athlon 2400. Asrock mobo. 128ddr. win98se.
Thank`s. Tom.

AGP cards can be difficult to seat properly, make sure your's is seated properly by removing it and putting it back in. Usually you will here a couple of clicks if it goes in properly and, if it has a latch on the back, the latch will lock in place....

mjc's advice (http://www.pcguide.com/vb/showthread.php?s=&threadid=24178) to delete the HKLM\ System\ CurrentControlSet\ Services\ Class\ Display KEY might help out.

Are you absolutely sure you disabled the onboard video in the BIOS? It's possible to change the PCI/AGP setting without actually disabling the S3 ProSavage. Go through every menu and submenu in the BIOS just to be sure, I've seen it buried in the oddest of places.

I reseated the card, had another look into the bios and re-selected AGP.
Although the item was not recognised as p+p, it was now present on the system, and I was able to use the installation disk to load drivers.
Looks as though it may not have been secured in the slot? But all`s now well.
Thank`s for all your help.
Tom.
