Whenever I download a file that's larger than 3-4 megs the file ends up being corrupt (bad checksum) leaving me unable to extract it. This is not a software issue since I reformatted my hard drive and I had my cable modem replaced today as well but this problem keeps occurring. Logically this is beginning to sound like a hardware problem but I don't have any idea what could cause an error like this. Several friends have hinted at a possible memory problem; is there a chance that something else could be involved?

Is this occurring with files from many download locations or just one?

What kind of files, zip, mp3, etc?

What download manager are you using?

Can you get someone to burn you a Cd of a few large files?

If you can extract those then it would narrow it down to being corrupted in the download process, if not then I would say it is a problem with whatever program you are using to unzip them with...

It doesn't matter where I download the file from or what I use to download it; it always ends up corrupted. I just tried unzipping a file from an old system backup I had and that worked fine so it has to be something that occurs while I'm downloading the file. This problem occurs with .zip files as well as .exe extractable archives.
