Hi. Got a problem...
I´ve been receiving error messages when tryng to open large files in Photoshop. Did a ScanDisk on the 3 partitions of my 40 GB HD. Then, when i´ve tried to do a Defragmentation, I´ve found that the percentage of defrag get back to zero after reach the 10%. After wait one hour and see no changes in this abnormal behavior, I´ve decided to write this post.
This are the specs:
ASUS A7A 266
AMD ATHLON 1,2 GHZ
DDR 256 MB
Western Digital 40 Gb 7200 rpm

Any suggestions?

Make sure you don't have anything running in the background. Screensaver, Antivirus, other scheduled tasks,...

I've had the same problem. I do it now in "safe mode" and it works fine.

Bassman you were right, Defrag was restarting because of the existence of a program running in the background. Actually, I´d know that´s the most frequently cause of the sintoms I´ve described, but since I´ve discovered this forums, i post the question before tryng anithing.

Just a tip: If you're running Win 98, substitute the Defrag with the Defrag from Win ME. It's so much faster that the 98 version...
