Apparently it took a restart to knock it all into place, because it is gone as of this morning, I checked every website I usually go to that has people pics, and they are all clear and crisp, and no more faded 256-colors look to the graphics when I'm in 24 bit color.

The only thing I did before shut down was take the Lexmark icon from the nav bar (testing how to remove icons for the msi reinstall). When I started up it came back, and there is clear people pics and sharp graphics on all sites, including the "The PC Guide" logo.

Thanks, everyone, you people are the best. I don't use credit cards so watch the snail-mail for a tip jar slam-dunk.
