Does anyone know if the line in jack on the Gateway 310 series is mono or stereo? The gateway people didn't seem to know themselves.
It has integrated audio, which I guess means it's part of the motherboard?
I need to record in stereo, so a mic in will not work.

If it plays in stereo...I think you can safely assume that it will then record in stereo...

From what source do you want to record??

It's probably stereo. The line in jack is intended to allow external stereo devices such as cassette players to be used (works great, I've done it several times.) All you need is a stereo 1/8" cable but make sure you send it a LINE SIGNAL ONLY. A speaker signal can blow the card or chip.

I think the MIC IN is a mono input, but not certain about that. The LINE IN should be stereo. LINE OUT and SPEAKER OUT are both stereo.
